WHO MAY SUBMIT:

– Any performing songwriter regardless of their level of expertise- beginner thru professional – Any genre may enter, with the understanding that certain venues require a “stripped down” set. – This includes instrumental songwriters as long as they will also be the live performers

WHO MAY NOT SUBMIT:

– 2015 / 2016 winners of Philadelphia Songwriters Project Songwriting Contests. This does not include semi-finalists of either year – Any artist already booked for any of the prize venues during the 2017 year – Non- performing songwriters

HOW MANY SONGS CAN I SUBMIT: 10 song limit

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

Songs will be judged in the following categories: Lyric, Music, Performance quality, Theme (did the submission meet the theme criteria)

Why do I need a video? What kind of Video do you want? The bulk of our prizes are performance based. We need to know you can actually play and sing on key. Your video can be something very simple, you playing live, on your couch- Just make sure we can hear you. Nothing worse then a bunch of talking or background noise impairing our ability to hear you. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Just clear. We DO NOT want “produced” music videos… where you’re in a field, walking down a street, or in a bar lipsyncing the produced record.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE SONGWRITERS PROJECT:

The Songwriters Project is a non-profit arts and education organization therefore, we encourage membership. Please note, membership is NOT a requirement to enter the contest.
